The first digital poverty simulation tool in Canada, MaketheMonth.ca, provides an online experience and understanding of what it is like to live as a single person, a single parent, or a family of four on the poverty line in Calgary, as well as multiple locations across Canada.

During this one-hour virtual session, a United Way of Calgary and Area facilitator will outline the dimensions of vulnerability and how the elements of income, employment, and support networks influence challenging decisions that individuals and families living with limited resources can face in their daily lives as they experience poverty’s wraparound causes and effects.

The simulation presents you with difficult, real-life scenarios and requires you to make tough decisions on whether to spend your limited budget or whether to go without. You will also learn about the resources and supports that exist for people in your community, as you live paycheque to paycheque and try to #makethemonth.
